Linux Ubuntu 17.04 install problem

Yeah. ^^^ Ubuntu has run smoothly every time I've used it. What are your specs?

Boot the installer, I get the ubuntu menu like, try ubuntu, install ubuntu, and i can scroll for about 5 seconds, pressing enter which is confirm or whatnot does literally nothing, then i get that screen.

3930k, 20Gb of random ddr3 @ 2133, given the issue i'm having I lowered the clock to 1600, GTX 970, and the boot device is a Samsung Pro Duo 32GB usb flashdrive, the drive I will be installing it on is a Samsung PM851 128GB 7mm 2.5" SSD

It might take it a second for it to load the next stage, but regardless that sounds like a messed up bootable drive.  in my experience they're quite "delicate" and the slightest thing can make them not work.  I suspect if you make it again, perhaps in a different way, it will work.

I let it sit there for 5 minutes with that screen, did nothing. I used UUI on FAT32, Ill try making it again.

I'm seeing "nouveau ... init failed"

 

That leads me to believe something's borked with the video card driver.

hm, that should be fine then... in theory.  Also I think people are right about the driver thing:

Apparently Nouveau is horrible and using it with nvidia cards is like cancer. Ill try booting it on a system that uses an AMD card, if the board decides to post, It sometimes hangs on postcode 25  (EVGA) It says to add things to the kernal parameters but idk how to do that im new.

Try reformatting the bootable USB and start over.

During install did you tell the thing to install third party software and updates?

 

I'd avoid doing that just to make sure your computer can actually boot with Linux and start building from there.

the first time I didnt even hit enter or try to install or boot or anything that screen just showed up.
