M.2 is a type of SSD that goes into an M.2 slot as opposed to SATA. The correct title for a thread like this is "m.2 vs sata" or something like that.
It doesn't affect FPS, quality or anything like that. SSDs only affect the load time of the game. An m.2 is a small amount faster than a standard sata SSD. Most people buy M.2 because it's two less cables you need to worry about.
