Is this a good starter build and how much do you guys think this graphics card will be by black friday this year?

no info, and i suspect gpu pricing will be less than normal, as it always is. your task will be finding one.

I don't see the RAM you linked on MSI's QVL for that board... might not work to rated OC.

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B350-GAMING-PLUS.html#support-mem-2

I would not put pair a 450W PSU with a 1080

Since you have the M.2 slot, why not buy an m.2 SATA SSD? I just added an MX300 to my Ryzen system and couldn't be happier and noticed no performance loss from dropping the Plextor NVMe that now resides in my Intel build (both below). And it was half the cost. the Samsung 850 is a good unit, but i feel it's overpriced.

Do get some mass storage though. 2TB is fairly inexpensive.

Unless you need the ultra high bandwidth and crazy high IOPS NVMe gives you, you are literally paying twice the mount of money for that 960Evo than you would notice with a SATA M.2 drive from just about anyone.

Do not buy the CXM PSUs with a green label. they are garbage.

for the price, the Crucial MX300 or the Western Digital Blue m.2 drives are probably the safest bet i found. i was torn between the two, and the difference in performance was negligible. you're paying more for the WD warm and fuzzies. they both give you the same warranty, but the crucial has the slightly higher capacity (not that it will matter much).

The EVGA BQ's aren't much better have you checked the PSU Tier List in the hardware section? Try for Tier 3 or better.

Did you check the link i dropped a little while ago to make sure that RAM SKU shows up on MSI's QVL list as working to rated OC? IF it's not on that list, it might be some work to get it to OC well, or utter disappointment. At least from that list, you know what to expect.

I assume better means tier 1, 2, 3 and i really dont plan on overclocking. ( Apologies if i'm a moron. 15 Y/O just getting into Pc building now...) @knightslugger

you are correct. but better build quality doesn't equal better OC performance. i mean, it kinda does but only as it relates to not bursting into flames because some 7 y/o in China threw it together. A better built PSU means a safer, longer lasting system. It's one of those safety things we talk about from time to time.

full modular is always better, but my CX750M is a semi and it's serves me very well. it depends on your desire for clean cable management. Having a semi-modular hamstrings you a little in that regard. at least with full modularity, you can toss the included long (or short) cables and buy new ones (such as those offered by CableMod) that better suit your needs without the excess clutter. Also black poly cables are ugly as sin and are a pain to route.

this is also a big factor in why i suggested an M.2 drive. less cables to route.

WE been stocking the WD SSD's are they so far have been great, But we dropped the Blue and went for the Green as they are Identical on the inside, Same SSD controller everything. just using the HDD colors to adjust price. nice way to save some extra pennies.

except the greens aren't offered in a 500GB model, which i would consider to be the bare minimum for today's high power rigs.

looks good to me. the SSD size is up to you, but me personally, i would not go with anything less than 500GB.

Sorry, not too familiar about what coolers look like. If you want something black, the BeQuiet! DarkRockPro3 with the free AM4 bracket is a beaute, but i don't know if it'll fit in that case or not.
