Hey guys, I was wondering if the recent Windows 10 update is better managing the resources, especially the CPU. I'm wondering because months ago when I was building my computer, I got a P67 motherboard from @Captain Chaos, which allowed me to overclock my non-K i5 2500 after I got the proper cooling, and the results were rather weird. The normal Cinebench score for an i5 2500 is around 450 (with the multiplier at stock, X33), and when I turned up the multiplier to X41, sometimes I got even less than a stock i5 2500, or very little improvements sometimes. I was in touch with Captain Chaos at the time and I was meant to install either windows 7 or 8 to check if it was windows 10 that was causing that, but I was too lazy and ended up not doing it (sorry), but recently, I performed another clean install of Windows 10, and the same thing happened, I was getting weird Cinebench results, but after this new update, I started getting way better, consistent results ranging from 515-520, which is even a bit higher than it was supposed to be. Maybe this isn't post worthy, but I was just wondering if Windows 10 is now better managing the resources, that would be great for gamers.

Many thanks, Bruno.

Weirdly enough, I have always been getting 498-512 with my own 2500 on that same motherboard and the Z77 board I'm running it on right now.  All tests on Win7, of course.

Too bad I deleted our PMs already, I seem to recall that elevating the Cinebench process in the task manager pushed your scores up too, which pointed to Win10 doing all kinds of stuff in the background instead of letting your CPU focus on the benchmark.

Glad to hear that motherboard is still being used.  Would have been a waste to let it keep collecting dust in my closet.

Good to hear from you. I just performed a benchmark on Cinebench, setting the priority to "Real Time" (this is an exact translation from Portuguese, don't know what it's called in English) and actually got a result of 523, so, it seems like Windows 10 is really better managing the resources, I mean, the timing can't be a coincidence, right? As for the motherboard, yes, it is being well taken care of and is soon getting a GPU upgrade, don't see the need for a new CPU just yet. :)
