I'm debating what gpu to get. I'm planning on playing on 1080p 144hz but currently I'm only on 1080p 60hz and my buddy is offering me his Asus Strix 1060 bought last year for around 15,000php ($296) but the other option is to save up much money as I can and just get a Zotac 1070 FE which is around 22,500php ($445) but the mining effect here is noticeable all stocks are sold out pretty much. What to guys think? Thanks!

Current specs:

i5-6500

Maximus 8

16gb DDR4

128gb SSD

1tb HDD

620w PSU

*ps. I found someone selling a Zotac Gtx 1070 FE but the geforce logo is modded to white so no warranty at all for around 17,000php ($336) no shipping fee.

My personal recommendation would be saving for a 1070, unless the 1060 is significantly below the price of it's normal used prices.

My reason for choosing the 1070 is because even the 1080ti struggles at getting 90+ FPS in some games at 1080p (Ghost Recon Wildlands) for example.
So the more power you have the better you are off.

Also, the 1070 will last you longer due to having that young 8gb GDDR5 VRAM.

I would wait a couple days for AMD's new VEGA cards to come out and see what happens with the pricing.

he said see what happens with the pricing, NOT get a Vega card. Regardless, 1080-level performance likely for less than a 1080... why would you NOT want that?

OP - I'd get the 1060 or wait for Vega to drop 1070 prices back to normal

I have never had any AMD cards myself. I currently have a GTX 980 Ti that replaced my 970 and it works great. I had a couple of 1070s that I used for mining and then resold. I tried using the 1070s for gaming and they worked great. They're just hard to find right now for a reasonable price.

1070's here in the philippines are still on the same price for the FE cards, but almost all of them are sold out due to mining. I can still defintey wait for the 1070 since my budget for it is coming in hopefully next week.

I'm not a fan of amd cards tbh, so I'm staying away to amd cards as much as possible.

What do you guys think of the Zotac FE 1070 Modded? I think its 6months used then 3 months not used because the owner upgrade to 1080ti sli.
