Build is really loud

Billy_Mays

At idle my rig is really loud and I can hear it from 15ft away so how do I make it quieter because it's really noisy and it's annoying because when I try to game it gets loud and I have to turn up my volume to hear anything so how do I make it quieter and I know fans will help but I don't know which ones

The CPU cooler stays off when it's idling so it's either my GPU or my case fans (ones that come with Corsair AIOs the black and grey models)

Im mostly on discord now and you can find me on my profile

My Build: Xeon 2630L V, RX 560 2gb, 8gb ddr4 1866, EVGA 450BV

My Laptop #1: i3-5020U, 8gb of DDR3, Intel HD 5500

turn off either the case fans or gpu fans and find out what makes the noise, if it's the case fans, buy higher quality fans with low noise, if its the gpu then i'm not sure sorry

just check what makes the noise before because you could save some money :)

im just a guy who has done research I dont have any hands on experience, im looking to build a pc this summer, hopefully what I said was somewhat valid but you might advice from someone with more experience!

I can't turn the GPU fans lower than 34% which is a little weird

Hmm maybe your gpu is constantly too hot even when idle, have you checked the temp of your gpu?

Have you gone through the msi afterburner settings and allowed fan speed to be changed?

Yep it won't let me at all even in NZXT Cam even though I have it set to have my GPU fans set at 0%

maybe your gpu isnt designed to have it's fans turned off and constantly needs to be cooled or it overheats, maybe it is a safety protocol to ensure it doesn't get damaged.

It's my front fan or something close to it because I put my ear against it and it sounds like it's coming from there

Take that fan off power. If noise ends, thats the reasons. But it could also be HDD vibrating or, like with my case, causing bottom dust filter to rattle like hell.

My case is sub $50 USD case so it has a cheapo dust filter but it also makes a loud noise and it sounds like a ball bearing is broken but it only happens when the fans on my GPU are about 60%

Could you record video about the noise? Like how its supposed to sound and then with that annoying bit. Because if it only happens when GPU fan is running at certain speed but other fans don't change speeds, I can't honestly just give way to fix things. I have a feeling its some sort of vibration related thing. Or maybe its GPU cooler going bad. But those need actual hands-on experimentation for finding issue. Which I obviously can't do without 8h+ flight.

I got in my rig 2 noctua fans for nhd15 , 2 corsair 14 in the front and 1 on the back (the 3 comes with the 760t case) and i found that my 2 intake fans does more noise than my entire computer (at full speed computer) but from what im proud of is the 10X0 generation of nvidia graphic cards , if ur 770 does a lot of sound is normal , my previous sapphire rx 480 at gaming (stock card blow-type fan cooler)  average fan speed 2200 rpm and temps so high , i put my card to mine and bought a 1070 , fans on idle windows+youtube  0rpm , and on gaming like 800rpm so silent (i use to play high demanding games like pubg full high graphics or tekken 7 ultra) , and if u cant buy a 1070 , i bought an strixx  for my girlfriend 1060 on my country for 330 euros 6gb (i found lately places selling brand news at 280euros gigabyte ones) and playing second life high settings between 0 and 800 rpm (most time of). the 1000 series from nvidia achieve such a low noise and low tdp if u can try that u wont regret and if ur main problem is that i would aim for a 1050ti or a 1060 (150-280 euros) i bet the 1050 ti or include 1080 ti draw less power , less noise , less heat than any other card , very very noticiable change (I saw on first person from friends pc with a 1070 and i can confirm asus 1060 strixx 6gb  , msi 1070 gaming x , gigabite 1070 windforce and asus 1070 strixx also does 0 rpm on windows or any peasant tasks.) and my gigabite fans seems very cheapy compared with the strxx 1060 from my gf, it looks cheaper mine :( .but to recommend u if ur psu holds well and u dont plan to upgrade your  amd just save money for a 1060 or buy a 1050ti (pd dont buy 1060 3gb that is obsolete , neither miners or gamers will buy that)

I'll try to record it later since I'm going away from my house for a while but my PC is coming with me

Your fine maybe lowered settings and 1440p isn't true 2k, 2k is a little bigger than 1080p

Its really weird noise as it sounds like what you'd normally hear when you have electronic interference in recordings.
