Okay so most of my french friends play csgo, but I don't know if I should buy it. The only experience I have in shooting games is just cause 3, gta 5, mafia 3 and watch dogs 2, I've only done the story modes for watch dogs 2 and mafia 3, just cause 3 and gta v I just downloaded a completed save. I understand there are crates and knifes? But I don't know anything else. Like guns or anything.

P.S i also played some bo3, only multiplayer no story mode.

CS:GO is one of the most played games today, and still growing (according to 3KliksPhilip-a youtuber)

If you ever want to play CS:GO you will find a game with no problems, and plenty of community servers.

This game is not expected to die as it is updated often, has a huge player-base that's been built since 1998. (When CS was first created as a mod for HL 1)

Another reason I suspect it to be popular is that everyone thinks they'll be the next Kenny S and play video games for a job.

EDIT:

for ideas on what CS:GO is like. They give pretty good advice, and have some tutorials for CS:GO. It's a rather interesting skill based game that has a lot of little complexities scattered throughout. Like professional Paintball the games are fast, and require lots of skill. Strategies have to be thought of and executed swiftly. As in real war, each battle can bring out a different effect later in the war. You must think of future rounds and economic management as well as how to kill/beat the enemy.

Relevant in what way? Does it have players? Yes. Any given time for the past 18 years some CS game has had more players than other FPS genre games, maybe excluding CoD on consoles and Quake&Unreal at their peaks. It will have players until next bigger version is launched. Considering it was launched 2012, and previous version had been out for 8 years at that point, there will be servers for next 3 years Valvetime.

Can you get in? Sure. There are top players who weren't born when series started. There are players who were on first beta. There are players like me who did play occasionally back in 2004-06, again 2009-11 and few times CSGO after that. Its all about how much time and patience you are willing to invest. That game is all about learning maps, learning what you can shoot through and do damage, where to throw and bounce nades, how to aim etc. Spray and pray rarely works, unlike in CoD.

Nothing to worry about. Competitive CSGO matches are always on a level playing field and everything you get from the crates is purely cosmetic.

I think you will find a steep learning curve with this game given your lack of experience in the past with FPS games, not necessarily a bad thing. Get into the game play some casual game mode and deathmatch and when your ready play competitive (The competitive mode will rank you and put you with people of your rank so you don't have to worry too much about being a newb). This game has no story mode its all about that multiplayer.
