Ultravide - 1060 3GB vs 1050ti

Hello! I want to buy a GPU, but i can't decide between 2 of them - 1050ti or 1060 3GB. I know, that 1060 is faster, but it has only 3GB. I have an Ultrawide 1080p and it is good to have more VRAM. Which one shall I buy? The prices are around the same in my country. Please respond quickly, because I have limited time and limited funds.

Thank you in advance,

Pillsnottasty

1060 would be my choice, unless you can find a 570/470 or 580/480.

The 1060 3GB is much better, although, if you can find an RX 470 or 570, get it.

A GTX 1060 is faster and the 3GB VRAM bottleneck isn't as big as you'd expect. My advice to you would be-

  • Wait until RX 480 4GB and RX 580 4GB prices go back down to normal, and buy one of those. Skip this unless you have a decent CPU.
  • Try to save up a little more money to afford a 1060 6GB.
  • If you absolutely can't wait, get the 1060 3GB. The VRAM bottleneck does exist, but it'll still be way faster than a 1050 Ti. It'll always be faster. So if it comes down to that, it's objectively the better choice.

Depending on availability on the used market, you could look for a used GTX 970- this should be as cheap as a New 1050 Ti, but it's faster than the 1050 Ti and can be overclocked to equal or beat the 1060 3GB.

The fuck? Why are people even mentioning polaris cards here?

Look for a used GTX 980, if you are in the UK, CeX have them for £220.

He may not want to buy used, so the next best option would be rx4/5xx cards.
