Just overclocked my i5 4690k to 4.3Ghz at 1.250v on my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 , only problem is it runs at this voltage all the time, any way to change this?

CPU: Intel I5 4690K | GPU: Asus R9 280x | PSU: Evga 600w | RAM:8GB DDR3 | HDD: WD 1TB | HDD: WD 500GB | SSD: Sandisk 120GB

probably is in the BIOS but i wouldent seeing as it can cause instability and thats not even close to dangerous so dont bother

*edit*

honestly push it further if you have enough cooling, 4.3GHz is pretty slow

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

After an hour of realbench package got to 83c with my dark rock 3 with the included silent wings fan and an additional noctua nf 12 on the other side. This is all at 1.250v, think I lost the silicon lottery a bit

you must have voltage set to manual, you could set it to auto and see what it does, it would probably go up though...I haven't figured out offset or adaptive so can't tell you what to do with those... get moar cool in your system!1!

thats pretty high for that, see if you cant push the fewquency some more with that voltage. mine did 4.7GHz @ 1.335V and around 85C on my shadowrock II(in the winter, like 100C summer lol) and around 80C under my NH-D14 in the summer

Already tried and crashes on boot, to get 4.4 i had it at 1.28 but even that was unstable so yh...

Just blue screened at 4.3Ghz at 1.250v... time to bring down to 4.2 and see how that fares tomorrow
