I hate this world... :P

chipsndip104

The R9 290 is amazing for the price, I honestly can't find a thing I don't like other than the hurricane like stock cooler. I was sitting about to purchase it and thought to myself "But I really like Shadowplay and the concept of G-Sync..." WHY CAN'T AMD AND NVIDIA MAKE SWEET GPU LOVE AND PRODUCE THE ULITMATE GPU WITH THE GOLD DRIVERS, G-SYNC, AND SOFTWARE OF GEFORCE AND RAW SPECS OF AMD CARDS!!!!!!! ARRRGGGGG

Because we live in a world of madness.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4.

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

For that is all I need, For the Emperor of Man, Jen-Hsun Huang, protects. We march for Nvidia, and we shall know no fear!

If they did, Nvidia would still probably slap their price premium on it.

AMD GPU's(and their CPU's by extension) may be equivalent to an Nvidia GPU(and Intel CPU's) in game performance but they are severely lacking in the quality of their designs, While some may be ok with settling with the sub-par brute force approch that AMD seems to favor because they have a better price-to-performance ratio I would rather pay more and get a piece of hardware that I know has the amount of R&D grunt behind it that Nvidia(and Intel) are famous for. Personally I would never use anything but Intel/Nvidia in a PC that was meant for my own personal use unless I was on an extremely tight budget, in that situation I would only use one of AMD's APU's. That being said however I cannot dismiss AMD's price-to-performance ratio, aside from my own PC every other PC that I've built(7) featured AMD hardware and every PC that I've upgraded(3) was upgraded with AMD hardware from older Intel hardware simply due to the fact that the budgets for those machines were small and Nvidia's/Intel's offerings in the low end can't really compete with AMD's. I imagine Nvidia could lower it's prices on it's hardware to be more competitive with AMD but doing that would damage the market and possibly put AMD into some trouble despite the fact that AMD now has it's fingers in the console market by supplying the 8 core APU's used in the PS4/Xbone.

But my dear OP, the only reason things like G-Sync, Mantle, Shadowplay and just about every other graphical enhancement in PC gaming for the last 10 years even exist is solely because of the competition between AMD and Nvidia.

Without competition there is no innovation

I'm the one who overclocks.
