It would be much easier with solid state drives, but extremely hard with hard disk drives. Either way, it wouldn't be easy which is why we have tools such as SMART to alert us to failing drives. Hard Disk Sentinel is another good tool that determines the health of a drive and will alert you to a failing drive.

Congratulations on your well-earned title of the Worst Topic Title Of The Year.

No, it is not possible as there is no reliable way of predicting such data. There are no two mass storage devices with the exactly same number of write cycles before their death. There is SMART, but it won't predict things like "three more writes to go".

Write in C.

I think it would be possible to predict the failure of a drive within a range, but to get it within a very small range or even single numerical value, it would be nearly impossible. It would take a lot of experiments to determine all of the variables in each model of drive which would take an immense amount of time and money, which isn't even considering how many different types and models of drives there are.

I think I may have prompted him by creating a topic called "Quick Question", In which I posed a quick question about cooling. Cheers! xD

Still, don't put too much faith in my buying decisions. xD
