I'm concidering buying EVGA hybrid kit for my GTX 1070 FTW.

But I would like to ask here first, if anyone is using EVGA hybrid cards and what are your experiences with it.

My main concern is pump noise, and also how loud is that blower style fan that is cooling VRMs.

I was using GTX 1070 FE before, and stock fan was just annoying to me.

Noise is something that I realy don't want to hear from my PC.

When under load, I'm sure hybrid will be much more quiet than my current GPU with 2 fans on it spinning like crazy. What I'm more concrned about are idle noises. Can you hear pump and fans from that hybrid card?

Get a card that turns off its fans when under low heat load?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

I actually installed one on my Titan X pascal .. really brings down the temperatures and noise .. I highly recommend you installing it

I was digging around the web and found info that pump is always running at 100% speed. Not sure how quiet that is.

My current GPU already does that. At idle it's perfet.

But when I start playing Overwatch ... GPU jump to 100% usage and fans start spinning pretty fast. So I'm looking for solution that is quiet both at idle and under load. Yes I know my needs are a bit extreme.

Try a custom fan curve

well it would solve the 100% load overwatch problem :-) most likely it's running at 32147463218746723784326 fps and maxing the card. while half that much would be enough. just saying...

and enjoy the glorious input lag while you're at it..

You can limit FPS in Overwatch, besides.... Overwatch is weird.

Furmark Extreme Burn in has trouble to get my GPU to 70°C at 100% load, Overwatch has no problem getting it to almost 80°C at 70% load.

well I got no freaking idea about overwatch tbh. but since it's a blizzard game I guess it's designed to run on a toaster outputting massive FPS e-sport style.

guess it's the time you run a program? I m,ean how long?Furmakrd after 30 minutes at 100% load will pretty sure yield the same result as overwatch with 100% after 30 minutes. load is load and thermal is thermal and physics are physics.

haunted hardware then... contact LTT staff

I even managed to get 400W power on the GPU core for couple of seconds which shows as 145% PWR in GPU-Z despite the max Power limit on my card being 127% which I never got even close to before due to insufficient PSU (got screenshot of that on PC, can't show now as I am on phone).

if present at all you mean? yeah right.

with vsync it can get quite extreme, even raising the limiter from 200 to 300fps makes a noticeable difference

is that depending on the game maybe?

I currently only play Mass Effect Andromeda and my card was running at max and throwing 120ish fps at me. I turned on vsync which limits it to 60 fps on my monitor, couldn't feel a diffrence at all besides using less energy and much lower noise.

I have it tuned on, so I get constant 75 fps on 75Hz monitor.

And I lied ... it's not on 100% usage all the time, but it's jumping from 70 to 90%.

My GPU still gets to 80°C since I OCed it to the max.

Already have that. I set that my fans start spinning when GPU is at 61°C or more, and never to go beyond 85°C.

I surely hope so.

Now it's another problem, since I can't find any retailer that have those in stock lol

I will have to order one from Germany, and hope it arrives this year.

There are two different types of hybrid kits. The FTW kit has a regular fan, and the "reference" kit has the blower fan, so make sure you get the FTW kit. As for the pump noise, I honestly don't think it's a problem. Mine is pretty quiet.

i hate the EVGA hybrid.. i had mines RMA and it arrived a few days ago. to my dismay the pump was still loud.. now i just run with the air shroud for my 1070. sure temps are higher so gpu boost 3.0 is not as effective, but i favor silence rather than hearing the pump
