Hello, I'm planning to design my own PC case from ground up. I'm using solidworks as a modeling software. I'm planning to design from mATX form factor with ATX PSU, and GPU (basically a standard mATX build). However, I've looked around for dimensions but its not enough. Are there official resources for standard resources like these? Thanks.

Also, if I'm successful, I might also design PC case that's printable with PLA.

Thanks.

Most of the stuff should have specs for WxHxD on the page of the project. Pic a psu gpu mobo that you like and a cooler for the cpu and should give you an idea the hight it has to be and what not.

Thanks @Enderman for sharing our PDF! Hope it's useful to you, @Potentate18 - we are actually very close to publishing a new and improved version of this doc (it dated back to 2007 :o). I'll share the new link once it's available, hopefully later this week.

  • 2 weeks later...

New version of the How to Design Custom Enclosures for Motherboard-Based Systems guide is now live! :)

Here are the major updates:

• Added Micro ATX boards to the document
• Added height constraints
• Changed mounting fastener configuration
• Changed PCI slots so they don’t restrict protruding connectors
• Added new detailed illustrations and diagrams
