stutter with 1080ti

You can but it is not usually recommended. BIOS OCing is always a better way do it. There are plenty of guides on how to OC broadwell-e CPUs you can use as reference but you don't have to max out the OC like they often do.

@pyrojoe34 I just rebooted to see if the BOost would show back up in the tray it did, but it is diabled. I did the CMD disable thing should it not show up at all?

If it says it's disabled then you're fine don't worry about the icon still being there.

Yes. This is a good starting point. Just make sure you test stability (run AIDA 64 stress test for example) and monitor temps for at least 30min, the longer the better (many people do their final stability tests for several hours once they have all their settings locked in). Once you are sure your CPU is stable the last step you can do (if you want) is to enable you RAMs XMP profile (if it has it) to OC that. Test stability once more time and you're good to go. If you ever notice weird things happening (like BSODs, crashes, etc) later down the line then just go back and re-evaluate the OC settings.

 

If anything goes wrong just reset the CMOS and the settings will all go back to default.

@DocSwag @pyrojoe34 OK so this was after the OC and ram adjustment, still have to do the bios update in the coming days. It happened a few times just wondering do these logs look the same?

Seems fine to me. Although you're only running at 3.8Ghz so if you set it to 4.0Ghz then it's not reaching it. What's your vcore?

@pyrojoe34 I did the noob OC with the app, i will do the 4.0 soon enough just wanted to ease into it. It happened like once or twice but not near as bad? You think OC the cpu made it match the gpu better?

Yes it helped, that and disabling the turbo boost software helped a lot. I noticed when I turned it off tasks were multitasked much more effectively. When it was enabled it forced tasks to a single core which caused bottlenecks. It's completely unnecessary since windows does a good job assigning tasks on its own.

Yup, they're still occasionally reaching 90+% use so a little more would help increase the gap.

No 6800k is plenty. Shouldn't be a bottleneck when OCed

It looks better, CPU11 is no longer maxed out, just close to being maxed out. I think a bit more of an oc would help though.

Unfortunately can't see logs . Are any of the CPU cores (usually CPU11 seems to like to) going towards 80-90% usage? Is gpu usage staying at 100 or bouncing around 80-90 like before?

 

So are you saying there still is stuttering? If so, is it less or same as before?

Have you tried OCing a little higher than 3.7? Looking at it CPU5 is getting really close to 100% usage a lot so I still think it could be a cpu bottleneck.

 

Also, this might seem weird but what if you underclocked your gpu? Try underclocking it by a few hundred mhz, and see what happens.

@DocSwag Hey doc sorry for the late response at work a lot recently, i mean if i go to 4.0ghz would that even fix it or is it so far i need a new cpu? Or could it be drivers for the 1080ti issue? or is it a bottleneck for sure?

Again, the 6800k is plenty CPU you really don't need to upgrade it. Give it a little more OC (at least 4.0, maybe 4.2 if you can keep it cool/stable) and if needed, a good cooler to keep the it cool with the OC.

 

If you're still having issues after that it's either a driver issue or game issue and a CPU upgrade won't fix that. Your system is well balanced and your CPU is more than powerful enough.
