It hurts the gaming community and makes consoles more attractive because of their low price point and the RMA's when the crash hits for any of the large cryptocurrency hurts manufacturers because they end up with far too much stock and no one willing to buy it. Not to mention in the current ETH mining Nvidia cards are becoming all not worth it unless you get the 1080 or higher and its 510$ and going up.

I feel as if it has potential, as has shown exponential growth in the last couple of years. But then you have dollar millionaires calling it a bubble. So really its just a matter of waiting to see.

I think it will die once Bitcoin splits.  I think it's an awesome idea and really hope it gains mainstream traction as an alternative currency, but I don't think it will.  I think it will remain a niche commodity market only.

 

I think a much better alternative currency is GoldMoney (previously known as BitGold)

Yeah and all of this is kind of silly.  The point of the block chain is to decentralize currency and take back the power of our money.  So far none have achieved that to any significant degree.  Bitcoin has become pretty centralized due to massive chinese mining companies.  Something like 60% of all bitcoin mining is from China.

As long as crypto currencies stay in the realm of commodity speculation, governments will leave it alone.  As soon as crypto-currencies start to achieve their stated goal of replacing central banks and government currency manipulation, governments will crack down and ban it.
