Net neutrality work arounds?

Saiyan

So I know what net nuetrality is and why it's very bad but is there any work around for any citizen? Like how do VPN's and the like tie into net nuetrality.

I'm just trying to ask people who know more than me about the issue, is there's anything we can do it net nuetrality does leave us?

Net neutrality isn't bad. What it does is it makes it illegal for ISPs to show favoritism for services (i.e., their own) or blocking/reducing functionality of other services. For example, AT&T, which provides cable TV service in addition to internet, can severely throttle Netflix, Hulu, and other TV streaming services because it wants to push its own cable TV service. Net Neutrality would prevent this.

Yeah mixed up my words my bad, net nuetrality is good and why it would be bad if we lose it. Meaning what could we do if we do lose nuetrality.

Hopefully the ISPs will do their evil things, people will come to their senses, and they'll revolt.

But you know, wishful thinking.

AFAIK about it, the VPNs can stop ISP throttling which means that your connection will be beyond the control of your ISP. This is the easiest workaround that I have explored. But, there are some who are concerned that this work around is not fool proof. Not sure about that but have definitely read about this side of the argument. But the most interesting part is that popular VPN providers like Tunnel Bear, PIA, PureVPN, VYPRVPN, and some others too are taking part in the protest though repealing net neutrality can actually benefit their business as they are supposedly a work around!

well until a law is passed that bans VPNs or ISP find a way to prevent you from using them.

Or they can figure out you're connecting to a VPN and automatically assume you're using it to subvert their shenanigans. Like how Bittorrent traffic is for illegal purposes, amirite Comcast?

The UK is trying to ban encryptions, so which would include vpns too. Apparently they never learn from terrorism.

A lot of legit traffic uses bittorent. Many downloads even linux OSes have bittorent as its not only cheaper on the server but also much faster and a good test of your connection on how it handles many connections at speed. ISPs just dont like it because it puts additional strain on their hardware.
