So my old cheap-o headset finally kicked the bucket. I have a pair of older VModa CrossFade LPs and saw that Vmoda also makes a mic attachment for them for about $30. I figured that would be the best value overall since a $30 headset isnt nearly as nice as the LPs sound wise. But, how is the BoomPro as a mic? Are they good or should I look into another attachment style mic?

Modmic 4 or 5

Are those better enough to warrant an extra cord and paying for than twice the price?

Modmic - Slightly better quality mic with wire mess, and maybe hard time putting on headphones that do not have nice flat surfaces. More expensive

V-Moda Boom Pro - No wire mess with not that good mic. Less expensive.

If you do not require your voice to sound amazing while trash talking or something, BoomPro's fine as long as you have compatible headphones.

Its my personal preference, but unless you are a professional streamer, that difference in quality between BoomPro and Modmic is not worth the price nor the annoyance of extra wires.

Boompro is good enough for gaming audio, I'm not a fan of the modmic cable mess even with mounting solution though it sounds better. Boompro is also easily removed if you use the headphones for other things.

Even a cheap Logitech webcam works absolutely fine for a gaming mic. It's around $20 and you don't have to worry about wires. Even most headphones with included mics sound fine. Although I never tried a gaming headset, because I never needed one having a webcam that gets the job done.

Things only get expensive when you want to achieve a nice radio voice over the mic.

Well I already own the LPs and they have really nice sound, so the boompro was just a convient attachment I found
