That's a good unit

so my build consist of the following:

CPU- Ryzen 1500x (Stock Clock Speed)

GPU- XFX RX 480 8GB

Ram- 16GB DDR4 Corsair Vengance white led at 2666MHz

Motherboard- Asrock x370 killer sli

CPU Cooler- Corsair H60

SSD- Sandisk 128GB
HHD- 1TB WD Black

I figure a 550w psu would be fine, something like this

I wouldn't do CX PSUs if I were you. Consult the PSU whitelist for info.

Corsair's higher-end PSUs are fine, but the lower end stuff I wouldn't really touch. Be very careful with PSU choice, it can outlast multiple systems if it's a good one, and won't burn your house down if anything ever goes pear-shaped.

EDIT: Just remembered the Grey Label CXMs are rated a bit higher, but still, consulting the list is a good idea.

The grey-label CX series are an entirely different platform (and the new CX and CXM are different from eachother even) and are much better than the old CX series which still wasn't even tremendously bad.

The motherboard is a little excessive if you're not going to overclock your CPU as is the water cooler but otherwise everything looks fine. I'd use the stock AMD cooler and buy a bigger SSD myself.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

It may be but OP probably would be more than fine with a cheaper B350 board.

Fair enough, they weren't tremendously bad, but if you're going to be picking out any kind of decent components, I'd at least fork out a little more for peace of mind and a longer warranty. Won't spontaneously explode though, 'tis true.

They're good units. I'd not hold my breath if I saw someone with a CX650 and a 1080 Ti. They've come quite a ways. The Corsair Vengeance which is a minutely modified non-modular USA-bound CX series is tier 1 on my tier list in my signature.

I was also looking at the modular factor since most of the build consist of black and white and was looking at some black and white modular cables on cablemod

https://store.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-basic-cable-extension-kit-86-pin-series/

gonna be honest im still somewhat new to this stuff

Yeah I can understand improvements over the last couple of years.

Academically speaking, what's the difference with the Vengeance and the rest of the CX series, if you don't mind?

The CX non-M are made by Great Wall. The M models are made by CWT as are the Vengeance.

I may have gotten some details mixed up in here now that I realise I got the OEMs mixed up, but I believe the Vengeance is multi-rail while the US bound CX is single rail.

They're not as bad as EVGA but it is confusing.

To keep it simple, all are good, the CXM is the worst coming equipped with a sleeve-bearing fan. The non-modular CX is actually a superior unit despite the price being cheaper quite often. The Vengeance are the best but you can't buy them in America.

Oh nice, thanks a lot for the info!

Nice tip about the CX non-modular too.
