2nd hand rig- should I buy it?

Hi guys,

A friend of mine has a rig for sale.

Specs are:

Processor ·                Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor
MotherBoard ·           MSI Z97-G43 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) ATX Motherboard
RAM ·                        Kingston HyperX 16GB (2x8GB) PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red (HX21C11BRK2/16-OC)
Graphics Card ·         MSI GeForce GTX 760 OC Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Storage .                    Seagate 2TB

Blu-Ray Disk Drive ·  OcUK Blu-ray / DVDRW combi SATA
Power ·                      SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply ·

OcUK Value AT/ATX "Kettle Plug" 2 Meter Mains Cable Casing ·
Aerocool V3X Advance Evil Blue Edition Midi-Tower

He is selling it for £500.

He had the rig for 5 years, apparently for CAD, and he swapped out the CPU for the 4790K later on. He never overclocked it either.

I personally think that its a good deal.

What do you guys think?

Everyone on here be showing off their rigs, so here I go:

Yaas.  OC it and have a very capable rig.  Also, get a can of compressed air.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

The GTX 760 would be a decent amount weaker than a GTX 1050 right now, but the i7 is still a decent deal. For 500 it seems decent but it's not the best deal.

Indeed it is a very capable PC. That I7 will never get old. You already have enough ram, mobo is good enough. The GPU will need to be updated but in the future and maybe the PSU(I've never heard of 'SuperFlower')

BUY IT!

Hell yeah, buying the CPU, Mobo and RAM alone (albeit brand new) is at least £450 now, nevermind the case, PSU, Hard Drive AND a 760 thrown in.

I will second getting the can of compressed air too! xD

Yeah have you seen the prices of 980 Ti's on Ebay? They're going for under $400 each, even with this mining craze.

hahaha Yeah agree, I'm going to Put one in redstone, Move the 980 to Lapis and than a 470 to sell to the miners for profit. Looks like something good came from them for once :P:P

Thanks for your opinions guys. I'll try to shave off 50 or so - don't think I can do any better. I'll also buy a good cpu cooler, as its the stock one right now, and some decent case fans. But daym the case looks so crap.
