Hey everyone,

I'm unable to find one on the standard (non-floatplane subform) forum, but i'm wondering if there is a thread posted somewhere we can see any progress to Floatplane Club? I'm an ex-vessel user and plan to subscribe to floatplane - If/When an app becomes available. I don't watch a lot of videos from my desktop - and navigating forums to watch videos on mobile is more of a pain than I would like to deal with.

Is there any updates out regarding when such an app will become available? I caught the tail end of the latest WAN show live where they spoke about it briefly - I missed most of it though. The YouTube upload did not include this conversation either.

Thanks

if theres no plans for an ltt forums mobile app, then i doubt there will be one for floatplane.

less people use floatplane than use the forums..

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

There aren't any progress threads, but that sounds like a good idea.

I have Floatplane, and you do get updates that are FPC exclusive about things like the office, the mezzanine, and the new website. I'd say go for it if you don't have it yet.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

More people spend money on floatplane, than people do on the forums. Also from my understanding they are trying to make Floatplane into a place other content creators can use as an early-access place for their subscribers. I doubt LTT are trying to make such creators merge to the LTT forums to upload videos.

iirc they are trying to make a seprate website for floatplane itself, untangling it from LTT forums. they want to make it like vessel but for LTT only I guess.

I won't give too much away, but yes, they are working on a new website just for Floatplane. It's not going to stay as a hidden subsection of the forums forever. And the web design they've shown us pilots so far looks great. I can't show it here, but it looks really good.

Thats what I thought - Hopfully the website is mobile friendly or they release an app. Then I shall sign up.

I miss vessel. A lot. I'm wondering what Verizon gained from buying out Vessel? They haven't launched anything or seemingly done anything with it - What was the point?

Are you able to say if your experience thus far using a mobile browser has been good or not?

It's not been demonstrated as an actual working site yet, but rather a design image. It looks just like a full webpage, but is just an image. I believe it should scale pretty good.

Ha, good luck with that. It is really good though. I mean, come on. We get ad-free, downloadable videos early? Yeah, I'd say that's worth it.

ublock origin

i dont care about downloading the video, what am i going to do, archive all of ltt's videos?

i dont care if its early,  i still get to watch it. unless there's a hiatus on videos getting released on youtube and being exclusive there for a stupid amount of time (>2 weeks), then .. well thats bullshit.

Outside the FPC :
right now there's nothing
after the wan show, in the after party, they talk about the FPC project and whats coming up / answer questions users have

Inside the FPC :

there is 1 post made about the website with a picture of what it may / will look like
and its basically the only update so far
there are updates on the LMG construction zone thing (Mezzanine updates) though that is not related to FPC really, its just a couple exclusive 5 min videos.

Here's what we know :

  • there is a website (though you can't do anything yet on it)
  • there may or may not be an iOS / Android app, perhaps just a mobile friendly website (basically like the forum right now)
  • the back end is what they are working on the most right now (like I said, we can'T see anything functional yet
  • if you sign up now you can stream up to 1080p 30 fps without problems (mostly) from the forum directly
and you can download videos in up to 1080p resolution (doesn't mean you can re-publish them)

thats about it.

The same reason fitbit bought pebble. Which would be to remove potential competitors and gain Intellectual property.

hello!

is it me you're looking for?

CPU: i7 5820k

Mobo: X99 Deluxe

Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 3

RAM: 32GB DDR4
GPU: GTX 1080

Storage: 1TB 850 Evo, 1TB HDD, bunch of external hard drives
PSU: EVGA G2 750w

Peripherals: Logitech G502, Ducky One 711

Audio: Xonar U7, O2 amplifier (RIP), HD6XX

Monitors: 4k 24" Dell monitor, 1080p 24" Asus monitor

Laptop:

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

Pebble and Fitbit I can see as competition - But how would Vessle be a competitor to Verizon - Verizon doesn't offer anything close to what Vessel was.

There probably will be FPC app in future, but much, much after platform launch. They already have fulltime coders for FPC platform, unlike they have for forums or LMG. There aren't any definitive progress listings, its more like few posts here and there + WAN Show to keep us informed.

They got technology and employees who are experienced with running streaming platform.
