You mean making YouTube videos or just watching, because there is no need to spend 2.4K on a PC for watching videos?

Only joking, PC gaming, VR when the next gen of headsets come out. maybe some streaming and coding once i get my head round it. Been 5 years since i built my last beastly machine and this one should see me through the next 5 (probably 3 the way tech is going)

Sounds good, why not go for a 7700K?

Yeah, you could also go for a Ryzen 1700 which has double the cores and threads for around the same price, but it has slightly worse IPC and singlecore performance which will result in slightly lower fps in some games. If you do go for the 7700K, get a Z270 motherboard aswell, so you don't have to deal with BIOS updates.

There are plenty of black/red boards and RGB boards for both Ryzen and Kabylake. Check pcpartpicker.com

avoiding RGB/LED as i frequently sleep in the same room and don't fancy the glow. I'll look at some other boards though.
