I'm looking at two prebuilts, going to be buying one this week.

First is an Asus ROG for $1500+tax

i7-7700

GTX 1060 3GB

16GB RAM

1TB HDD

128GB M.2 SSD

Second is an Alienware for $1600+tax

i7-7700

GTX 1060 6GB

8GB RAM

1TB HDD

Liquid cooling

I guess my main question is whether or not it's worth $100 more for the 6gb GTX 1060 and an all in one liquid cooling loop. They both have M.2 SSD support, and they both use 8GB RAM Modules (Asus ROG is 2x8gb with 4 rails, Alienware is 1x8gb with 4 rails) so upgrading is cheap.

Is it worth giving up the 128gb m.2 SSD and 8gb of RAM for the 6gb gtx1060?

Go with the second one. It's easier to add more RAM and an SSD than it is to find a better video card, especially right now.

No desire to build one yourself?

Also, in the future please look through the sub forums. This isn't the place for this.

Atrocious value on both. A GTX 1080 (and Ti if you plan carefully) can be shoved in that budget easy.

I'd go with the second since RAM can be purchased later. Are you willing to build your own for $1600?

1060 6GB, upgrade to 16GB of RAM later on, add an SSD later on.

Or even better, go with neither of the two and build a much better PC for the same amount, or an equivalent PC for cheaper.

Hey, thanks for all the help so far, I'm not against building my own, I just did some ball park pricing and it's not much more for a prebuilt and I can just pick it up and it's done, I work 6 days a week so I don't have much time to sit and assemble everything making sure it's all dialed in.

I'm still looking around, if I can build something better for the same price range, sticking with Intel and Nvidia (always had heat issues with AMD in the past so they kind of lost my trust lol)

Oh, I probably should have mentioned those prices were Canadian, so that's $1155 USD for the Asus ROG and 1235 USD for the Alienware.

Turns out Dell.ca is having a huge sale as well, they have the same one at BestBuy but with a 7700K instead of a 7700, an 8GB GTX1070 instead of the 6GB GTX1060, and 2TB HDD instead of the 1TB HDD for $1800 ($1385 USD) so I've ordered that, I spent most of the night after work pricing out parts and I can't get anything even close to this price range.

Thanks for the help suggesting the 6GB GTX1060 over the 3GB 1060, pushed me towards an 8GB GTX1070 which happens to come with an unlocked 7700K and larger hard drive for only $200 ($155 USD) more.

Still no M.2 and only 8GB of RAM but those will be easy upgrades to come.
