Macbook Air SSD Replacement

My Macbook Air (2015)'s 256 GB SSD stopped functioning after 14 months of use. The Apple service center here in India asked for INR 43500 ($670) for SSD replacement which is almost 50% of the price at which I bought the laptop. What should I do ?

 

It's been a long time since this happened and I am running my laptop off an external HDD since then.
