Problems with Windows Activation

Go to solution Solved by Walt,

If it says code 8 try this:

Press and hold the button “Windows” and the button “R” to open the “Run”
window.
Write in the “Run” window the following command: “SLUI 4”.
Press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
You will now have a “Phone Activation” window in front of you.
In the window you will need to choose the country from which you registered.
Call the activation number after you chose the country.
After you dialed you should be asked to write you’re “Installation ID”.
Note: type the installation ID in your phone.
After you typed the installation ID it will ask you how many copies of
Windows have been installed with this license and you should choose “1”. If
you choose any other option it will not work.
Note: The option “1” you chose means that you only used it once.
After you did the steps above you should get a confirmation ID and then you
are set to go with a workable product key.

Hey guys,

just trying to clear up all my problems now, get them out of the way.

So, when I moved Windows to my SSD through the tool, and wiped my old HDD - everything installed perfectly.  However, now windows won't activate for me.  I tried putting in my old activation code, which won't work because it won't let me put in 0's.

What do I do....and good God don't tell me that I have to buy another copy of Windows 10..... please.

Contact microsoft and they will sort it out. Windows probably thinks its on a new computer. And as @themctipers said login in to your Microsoft account should do it, as the key is linked to that.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Thanks, I spent an hour on the phone with Microsoft, and this is what the support staff did.

I'm wondering if this is just a free way to cheat the system and get product codes....  Aren't they losing bucketloads of money off this?

There are waysto get past this but they may void your key anyway. Microsoft don't lose money if it's the same machine just a different drive. If activation wasn't a thing and you used your key on 10 pcs then yes they would.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?
