Which CPU would be better?

So if I have an i5 4460 and a intel Pentium g3258 oc to 4.2ghz, which one would be better?

The i5 4460 of course, but if you are going to buy the CPU new, get a Ryzen 5 1400

If you're looking at the Haswell platform, have you considered a Ryzen 5 1400?

 

Anyways, the 4460 is a better CPU.

the i5 because it's a quad core would be generally better.

Well I already have both but I have been having some cpu usage spiking issues with the 4460.

Well I already have both but I have been having some cpu usage spiking issues with the 4460.

each of the G3258's faster cores will have to handle what 2 cores in the 4460 deals with though.

 

imo the upgrade for that is the i7 4770/4790.

I agree, this option wouldn't make you cost so much money
