Just a simple question:

When we upgraded our internet to 6.5 Mbps (6 Mbps was supposed to be installed) we got a router-modem combo (that can't tell the difference between a router and a device) so we can't use our own router.
All around the house and even outside the house (through the concrete walls) I get in a .10 Mbps difference of 6.50 Mbps with Ookla speedtest.
I'd like to know if we get just a modem from AT&T and a good router (maybe even a repeater for my dad's 240p youtube videos) would do any better than what we have now.

I don't know how much we pay for (I don't pay for it, I will ask) and I do always get around 6.5 Mbps.
Though, I should do some clarification:
I used a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge for all tests, with the Ookla Speedtest.net app; "outside" was a few feet from the wall that the modem was right next to (the router is on the inside of course, so on the other side).

Seeing as I get as fast download speeds as I can from across the house and outside, upload is a different story.
I get .8 Mbps upload at the same place I did for outside on the download, the farthest point from the router inside the house I got .62 Mbps. Is there any way to improve the speed at the worst speed or overall if I get a separate modem and router?

It sounds like you are already getting speeds as good or better than the plan you are paying for. And at these relatively low speeds, even very low end hardware would be able to keep up. A WRT54g, released over 15 years ago, would be able to do the job.

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

Honestly I dont really thing there is much you can do. It sounds like the AT&T modem/router is doing a pretty good job considering. I feel sorry for your speeds though. Im rocking 75 Mbps down 10 Mbps up. Most of the time I get 90/12 its the one thing Comcast does right LOL.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
