future planning

Jeoxor

Firstly, I live in the US and I would say my budget would be $4000 total. I will use my future machine mostly for "file sharing" and some gaming. I also plan to use it for syncing my iOS devices and for when I need more horsepower than my MacBook can provide. As of right now I like Nvidia and Intel, but I'm not opposed to switching sides as the marketplace changes. I want a nvme ssd to boot windows off of and at least 6TB of hard drive storage for files that don't need to be lightning fast. Also I want to run a version of windows that has bitlocker. For peripherals I dont know what I want other than a mechanical keyboard.

I have never built a PC before and I was wondering if it would be worth it to buy a machine from someone like origin. I appologize if I'm being needy but I need tips from people that know more than me.

Thanks,

Yah. For what the OP wants, you can build an insane rig form$2.5-3K. Spend the extra on RGB? I'm sure @Damascus would know what to buy.

I can RGB my current apartment for like $50 if I use whatever RGB strip I have left. I just need controllers and power supplies

I like the 28' size for the monitor selected, I definitely want windows for this machine, color doesn't really matter because I'm just going to put it under a desk, and I don't need to overclock.

Also I want a UPS do y'all have any recomendations?

Thanks for the help!

UPS is only necessary if you experience power outages. They're like the big brother of surge protectors, they give you abit more time to save and safely close your software if you run out of power,in anycase.

Are they the same (5050 or eqv)

there's 2 kinds of rgb strips: Adressable and non adressable. The adresaable ones are more expensive and require a special controller, but they're more flexible in therms of effects. these have 5 pins: +12v, r, g, b and data

the non adressable ones are ceaper and easier to mod with, but will have the same color/effect throughout the length of the strip. Controllers for these are cheaper and easier to make. Strips have only 4 pins, +12v, r,g,b. These are most commonly used in diy solutions since they are easier to work with and motherboards have started having dedicated pins for them

the 5050 you mentioned denotes the shape and size of the actual led modules, with 5050 being 5mm by 5mm, essentially a 5x5 square. 3528 functions the same, but is 3.5mm by 2.8mm
