Prioritize a platform upgrade, get a R5 1600 with a new board and RAM.

Then upgrade your GPU, the 1060/RX 580 and the cheaper RX 570/RX 470/RX 480 are great start. You can also get a 1070 if you have the budget for it. But keep in mind GPU prices are all over the place now, so you may want to wait a bit for the GPU upgrade.

If your getting low frames then you should perhaps upgrade the gpu to an rx 570.The 580 is good but for a few extra frames its bad price.Anyway the motherboard won't effect perfomance in gaming.

Yeah, but if he can find them. Stocks are low and prices are high right now.

Then how much you are willing to spend now? Also, what would you expect from this build after you finish this year's upgrade?

The GPU isn't that good, but at least it isn't too old.

If you can afford it, Ryzen 5 1600 is the CPU to go for. It costs $200
