Will it decrease performance?

My motherboard has 2 pci-e x16 slots but when a graphics card is installed in the first slot, it blocks the pci-e x1 slot, which I need for a wifi card. Would the graphics card decrease in performance if I install it it the second slot??

you can install the wifi card in the 16x slot aswell.

It depends on how your motherboard is configured. I tried this once for similar reasons on my Asus Z170-A, and the system wouldn't boot because it apparently requires that if only one video card is installed, it must be in the top slot.

 

You can try putting the wifi card in another slot. I'd avoid using the other PCIe x16 slot because that slot is probably designed for a second video card and may force your video card into 8x mode, but basically any other slot should work: 1x, 4x, or 8x.
