Skyrim Alduin's Bane glitch

During Alduin's Bane glitch, I have to use the Dragonrend shout against Alduin, the dragon. However(after using the shout on Alduin), when he comes down and I try to attack him, he takes no damage whatsoever.

I've tried reloading back to the save where I immediately encounter Alduin, but Dragonrend isn't used. I wait until his dialogue finishes, because that's the advice given on the internet, and I apply Dragonrend. Yet again, it's the same outcome.
