2500k is still a decent CPU. Your only other option here at that price would maybe be a 3770K, depends if you have a Z77 board. You would also "probably" need to flash to a newer bios to ensure it would work in your board.

You may be better off selling the 150ti and grabbing a 1070 - that would give a much bigger FPS jump

$300? Ryzen R7 1700. Definitely best bang for buck chip

Not really, the chip alone is $300 and OP would still need DDR4 and a new board, that easy going over $500

Well it isn't just your CPU bottlenecking your fps in PUBG, you'd need more than a new CPU, and that budget is rough. If it were a scenario in which a new CPU would remedy the issue, I'd recomend an i7 3770 for socket compatibility (according to EBay).

Otherwise, get a R5 1400 or 1500X.

and the 100 on a board and 150 on the ram...

I'd get a 2700K personally, they OC  better than 3770k chips do by a wide margin and tend to cost less

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

I misunderstood that $300 part. I thought he was talking about CPU only (just like the title)

How about this:

A really nice CPU & cooler with nice mobo and ram

Would probably go with one stick of 8GB ram, and 1500x offers much better performance than 1400 for price increase

What is all about X79?

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

Note 10, S10, Samsung becomes Apple, Zen 2, 3700X, Renegade X lol
