Massive FPS drops after 15 minutes gaming

I'm not sure why this is happening, but it's been plaguing me for some time. See in this video, I get insane stutters. This happens randomly after playing about 20 minutes, and can last anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 whole minutes. I'm not temp throttling, GPU hits 70 max, cpu barely touches 50 in light games like this. It has to be connected to my RX480, since it's the only hardware my last 2 builds have in common. I've gone though about 5 clean Windows 10 installs, at least a dozen DDUs, issue still persists. I don't think the GPU is faulty, after this hiccup, I can play 3 straight hours without a single dip (fallout 4 recently took my life, rip). Any ideas or suggestions? :S

Ah my bad, I didn't think it would upload the file in order to download, I figure it would just play .-. Download it if you want, just an example of the hiccups. It's like 9 mbs, squished to 480p

Did you make sure you seated the GPU right when you installed it? Sometimes this can happen if it isn't seated right. Also, as a side note, did you order it from Amazon?

Yeaup, I've actually swapped it out a couple times testing older GPUs for fun :/ And nope, I purchased it from MSI about 4 months ago, before the whole mining craze

I've had a similar issue recently, found it to be a memory leak issue related to out of date GPU drivers. But after having had this fix the issue, 3 months later I've had it return. So might be worth try...

Yes!! I didn't really think about that.. I remember it was an issue around 17.2. But somewhere along the line, it must've been fixed because I don't remember dealing with it for a while. I'm on 17.6.1 now, and it's back. I didn't realize that it went away until you mentioned that :S Guess it's an AMD driver thing hey?

Quite possibly. Just make sure you're up to date on all your drivers, if the issue persists check to see if any of your drivers have known issues. ?

try this

open gpu control panel

now make sure the games you play are in the performance list

then make sure game set to single display only

then if this does not help you can try a custom shortcut launch script with arguements set (file.exe /a b c  type thing)
