RTFM, lol

Everything motherboard is different. Some motherboards have an 8pin, but only require an 8pin plug for higher TDP CPUs, whereas lower TDP CPUs on the same socket can pass by with only a 4pin connector.

General, if a power supply supports 8pin CPU power, it will have a CPU labeled 8PIN plug that splits into two 4pins.

Now, I doubt that your Celeron really draws enough power to require an 8PIN, but it could be required by your motherboard depending on how it distributes power.

You can give it a try. Note that a PSU that doesnt come with 8 pin for CPU is likely weak. If you plan on upgrading to unlocked chips in the future you will need a new PSU.

I have no manual for the motherboard. I only have the motherboard. And nothing else. No I/O shield, no box, no manual, etc.

The manufacturer website usually has a PDF of the manual.

I think you'll be okay running just the 4PIN CPU power, but it's all relative to the motherboard.

I have a PSU that has 4 pins for CPU and I have a motherboard that needs 8 pins. It a Z170-p d3. I have a celeron G3900 can I plug it in ? Does it effect the cpu in anycase ? Do I really need a 8 pin ? Or can I plug 2 psu and plug 2 x 4 pins for cpu ?

What PSU are you using that doesn't have a 4+4 pin in this day and age...?

Anyways, you can use just the 4-pins, should work fine. The other four pins are for redundancy.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
