Hello!!

I need help in choosing a laptop... I'm searching for a laptop to replace my gaming rig in lan parties and travel.

My gaming rig is pretty high spec: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QVKfZ8

I already spent a lot of money on it, so spending the same amount on a laptop isn't an option.

I'm looking more into the 2300 / 2500$ CAD bracket maximum.

In USD, that's around 1700 to 1900 approximately.

If there is no shipping in Canada I have my own ways ;)

What I am looking for is GTX 1060 performance. This will stay a secondary PC so I don't need it too powerful.

The only specification I have is that it has to have an SSD and HDD and be a 17" if possible.

Bonus points if it has thin bezels :D

I looked into those two:

Otherwise I love MSI's styling, but they have so many models I can't seem to find what I want.....

Maybe some you you have a recommendation for me??

Wow that helped a lot!!!

Decided to go with the MSI Gt72VR. What's funny is that it's cheaper on the us site than Canadian one hahahahaha

Even with the money converted, it's 300$ less:

https://www.amazon.com/XOTIC-Dominator-WideView-i7-7700HQ-GTX1060/dp/B06XC13Q5C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498386540&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=msi%2Bgt72vr&th=1

https://www.amazon.ca/GT72VR-Dominator-i7-7700HQ-GeForce-Windows/dp/B06XC13Q5C/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1498386605&sr=8-10&keywords=gt72vr

And it's the exact same item and bundle!!!!!

I will think about it a little bit and order from us site to get the discount :P

xps 15 is the laptop I recommend to anyone with a higher budget. Very good one.

Yeah I sold this laptop twice back when I was Dell partner and having it in my hand: DAMN it's pretty and fast :D

Problem is, the highest configuration is only a 1050, so forget about gaming on this thing!! I find it more suited for programmers or heavy office workers than gamer. The screen is gorgeous though :x

NEVER get a 4k panel on this size of screen. Yes there is a difference, but always running windows in 200% scaling you can run into trouble in some applications. the extra resolution is also more power hungry on the battery. I always sold the 1080p version. Would be awesome if they had a 1440p model ^^"

buy all the ram and storage yourself and you'll have a sick system.

1060 for that much money is a rip off

by buying all ram and storage, I'm still falling over budget sadly.... it is a sick system though.

tons of IO it would seem, screen is G-sync IPS pannel, not sure if 60Hz though...

I would stay with the MSI one because I have good experience with their customer experience in the past and it's a sick bundle :P
