CPU Overheating?

Is a maximum temp of 84c too hot for my i5 6500, while playing battefield 1 for long periods of time? I have the stock heatsink. Will this damage my cpu? I've already reapplied thermal paste and made sure I mounted the heatsink correctly.

Well, that relaxes my concern for my father's 860K idling at 70^oC, although 110^oC for any CPU does seem rather ridiculous especially considering you are using an aftermarket CPU cooler. I

 

f anything that thing is probably thermal throttling worse than a 2013 MacBook...

 

May I ask, did you correctly install of the cooler (Made certain your followed the instructions for the right socket.), did you make sure that you removed of the plastic wrap on the bottom of the CPU cooler & did you actually apply thermal compound?

definitely . If the reported temps are correct , that is above the max operating temperature for that chip .

If anything you will start throttling up to a point where the pc shuts down.

No. If anything it will shutdown more often. 

 

Cheap solution: Hyper 212 EVO, MX4 Thermal paste.
