Hello,

i'm building a little super computer for deep learning (AI), and i have put together this part list:

Can i have your advise by commenting on the compatibility ? i'm getting the following warning from the web site:
  • Some Intel X99 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Broadwell-E CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

also do you advise to build it myself? i have never done it before so is there any risks associated ?

Thank you very much.

Best,
Ahmed

No risks but if you build your own you have to know which to plug

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later

You like to spend a LOT for this machine. Do you need this much compute power? What software are you using? Whats the problem size?

I think you are better of with a Ryzen CPU and 4 GPUs (GTX1080TI). Or are you sure you need that much VRAM?

By the way, depending on the problem size, you don't need much power. I trained a smal pattern recognition neuronal network with a 200k dataset on a crapy dualcore ultrabook and it only took about 5 minutes.

And on this MoBO you can update the BIOS without a CPU: https://rog.asus.com/technology/rog-motherboard-innovations/usb-bios-flashback/
