Hey dudes,

Here's my story and what I'm looking for.

I am a husband and father. Currently I spend about 1-2 late nights a week gaming or listening to music while surfing the web after my household has gone to sleep. I am looking for a sweet pair of headphones. I currently have a pair of turtle beaches that I've had for a super long time. I want something better. What can I get that will be noticeably better? By noticeably I mean REALLY better. Price is not an issue however I would prefer to spend less than $100. Having to use USB for extra power or whatever is not an issue since I just play around on my  PC. (I def willing to spend more than $100 if it's a long lasting solution.)

MOAR BASS

@Dackzy @Drak3 @SSL might be able to help. They're usually quick on the headphones, IIRC.

When?

Because audio isn't something I spend much time worrying over.

The only thing I can say is avoid the V-Moda M100's or LP2's if you listen to your stuff at loud levels. They'd probably only last a year, tops. I'm about ready to replace my second set of M100's myself.

Listening to them 2 notches above Android's "safe listening volume," and takes me longer to kill cheap buds than it does M100's. That said, haven't killed any other set that cost more than $50.

I had the Crossfade M100 and had no issue wioth it, other than the pads sorta tearing and flaking (prolly due to sweat and tropical climate in my neck of the woods). I sold it to my friend a while back, he's not complained to me about it breaking down so I assume it's all kosher. I liked its foldable design and kickbutt bass, but simply didn't like its sound signature.

I'm on my second pair, other than a speaker getting damaged from listening to a reasonable, albeit higher level (so long as you're not Google), my first set had the right side speaker completely fail. I tore the set apart, no physical damage. After a bit of research and forum lurking, I found out that it was an issue that happened with M100's a bit too frequently, and had no correlation to how you actually treated them. But that seems to not be a big issue with sets manufactured in the past 2 years or so.

All that said, I'll probably pick up another pair when these ones die. And then another when those die. Rinse and repeat until V-Moda releases a new set that looks more attractive than the M100's to me, or until they just don't sell M100's anymore.

LOL, so I take it you like the M100 sound then.;) I might borrow it from my friend to try it out with my LG G6 (HiFi Quad DAC version - great clarity though bass is a tad thinner compared to the V20 which I'd lost). Right now, I restrict my on-the-go audio listening to just IEM's (been using my Fitear Parterre and Campfire Audio Jupiter as of late), as I find them to be more convenient. I'll be the first to admit, portable audio gear isn't a priority for me as I'm more into home audio gear. Right now, chilling to 'To be human' on my HE560 + Fostex HPA4.....audio jizz time!:D

Oh yeah, I forgot that the M100 has the interchangeable shield thingies, I'd not owned mine long enough to get into that aspect of the M100, plus portable gear just wasn't my thing then, Still isn't actually, though I've invested pretty heavily on cables for both my cans and IEM's. Unfortunately, it seems my audio 'growth' is somewhat stunted now as I simply can't seem to get excited about anything audio now, guess I went into this audio phase hard and fast and I'm suffering from an audio 'burnout' of sort.O.o Having a number of headphone amps and more than 10 cans isn't helping either,,,,,:S
