Hello,

I have this mobo: https://geizhals.eu/msi-x370-gaming-pro-7a33-007r-a1606882.html?hloc=de

And I wanted to buy this RAM: https://geizhals.eu/corsair-vengeance-lpx-black-dimm-kit-16gb-cmk16gx4m2b3200c16-a1314316.html?show_description=1

But now I (kinda need) to buy this one: https://geizhals.eu/corsair-vengeance-lpx-black-dimm-kit-16gb-cmk16gx4m2b3000c15-a1305608.html

The latter has 3000 MHZ instead of 3200 (the former), but also there is this cryptic difference:

3200: CL16-18-18-36

3000: CL15-17-17-35

What does that mean? Can I also put the 3000 one on the mobo without problems?

Cheers for any help!

your question is a bit more complicated than you think. both will work. those are the discreet timings that different operations will take. in number of cycles. Ryzen is very finicky with ram so one of these might not work at XMP speed. and will just be forced to run at default 2133MHz therefore you won't have the benefits of the extra cash you put in the ram.

and i can't tell you which will or won't work i haven't tested or researched all the RAM kits.

Primary System

  • CPU
    Ryzen R6 5700X
  • Motherboard
    MSI B350M mortar arctic
  • RAM
    32GB Corsair RGB 3600MT/s CAS18
  • GPU
    Zotac RTX 3070 OC
  • Case
    kind of a mess
  • Storage
    WD black NVMe SSD 500GB & 1TB samsung Sata ssd & x 1TB WD blue & x 3TB Seagate
  • PSU
    corsair RM750X white
  • Display(s)

I am running that kit on my Asrock b350 pro4 board at 3066Mhz in XMP settings, no timigs need to be entered etc... but doesn't mean it would be the same for that board. Just wanted to let you know that the memory is OK on at least 1 board at better than rated speed via XMP only.
