Hi,

I want to get people's opinions on an upgrade to my PC.

I will be upgrading from an i7-4790, Gigabyte H81M-S2H, 2x8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, and a gtx 780 ti to this new build: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/BWqZ7h

Is it worth it? How can I make it even better? What would be the best way to personalize this build?

Edit: This is what will remain the same, for now.

HDD: 1TB WD Black

PSU: 650W Corsair RXM

Case: (I can't find it, nor can I remember the model name) (I may upgrade to a NZXT Source 210 Elite, so painting is easier)

Thanks in advance.

tbh this isnt even an upgrade at all. I doubt that the ryzen 5 will be noticeable better. I would suggest getting a gtx 1080 or gtx 1080 ti instead of the ryzen cpu. There is no way you are going to get bottlenecks with an i7

I dont really have problems playing latest games with an i5 4690k

So, getting rid of the CPU, MOBO, and RAM, and changing the GPU to a Palit 1080, I am spending £300 less, would you recommend a better SSD/HDD and a WIFI solution or just leave it?

One thing that is really holding you back is your motherboard. I looked at a picture online before saying this. With only 2 DDR3 slots, and the LGA 1150 socket, there is not much expandability. If you want to upgrade what is your budget? The amount of the build? Or something else. And what will you be doing. You might not need a 1080 or 1080ti if your games are not that demanding, like AAA titles. I would go with a GTX 1070, and go for a new processor, but look into Intel because their are a lot more options and less bottlenecking. Something like a i5-6600k or 7600k would be better, on a Z170-270 board.

I will be playing PUBG, Overwatch, Fallout 4, R6:S, and For Honor. My budget is currently undefined, yet don't want it over £1000. The amount with the Ryzen CPU is £944.50 and the amount with no CPU upgrade is currently £606.78, yet I haven't added a motherboard yet.

Going from a 4790 to a 1600 is a sidegrade if you're just gaming and I don't really see much point in it.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I made this part list as an alternative. It is pricey but you get a processor upgrade, ram upgrade, a fast 1070 (depending on the size of your case this might be to big but there are plenty of others), the same cooler, a fast ssd, a good mb, and LEDS!!!!! I don't know if this works, but I think that has a lot of bang for buck.

if you're just playing games, there's no point going from a 4790 to a ryzen 1600, you won't see much of a difference.

this is what i'd recommend for an upgrade instead:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Storage: SK hynix - SL308 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (£76.97 @ Ebuyer)
Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB AORUS Video Card  (£675.30 @ More Computers) or get a gtx 1080/1070 and use the money on something else/save it for a rainy day.
Wireless Network Adapter: Gigabyte - GC-WB867D-I PCI-Express x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter  (£28.95 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £781.22
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Graphics Card : go for Asus or EVGA because they are the specialist in cooling (note that Asus has to be the strix, and MSI has to be the Gaming X)

My head on 2019 :

Note 10, S10, Samsung becomes Apple, Zen 2, 3700X, Renegade X lol
