Hello

I've been wondering about this for a while now. Is it possible that CPU is under performing in some way?

I had a GTX 970, changed that to the 1070, I had a 1440p g-sync monitor. Had to sell it. Gaming with that was unbearable. Since the switch, i have oc'd CPU (goes only to 4.3Ghz). Now the CPU is at 3.8Ghz. Cinebench R15 score 406. Default settings Fire Strike 12612. Which seems really low. Temps at 2hours of gameplay: CPU and GPU stays under 65'C.I have tried everything.

I don't think R15 scores are going to be relevant to gaming. If we're throwing those around, my chip scores a 1325cb. 4.3 also seems on the low end for an unlocked intel chip, 3.8 even more so.

They're relevant enough to determine whether the CPU is underperforming for some reason, which just got proven as an i5-4670K should be in no case slower than an i5-4460 unless it was underclocked. Throwing in an R5 1600 score sadly helps with nothing but proving once again that i5s are obsolete nowadays because of R5 ^_^

The CPU is underperforming and that's sure, with that i5 at 4,3GHz and a GTX 1070 at 1440p with G-Sync, gaming should be fairly smooth (nowhere near Ryzen or i7s but it should be okay).

Run a stresstest for some time, check if the clock speeds are dropping under load.
