So I'm having trouble picking a GPU, I've started thinking about it more and looking at more reviews and benchmarks and I brought AMD Graphics Cards into the Picture, I Play Games like World of Tanks, War Thunder, Smite, Battlefield, Call of Duty, EVE Online, Borderlands 2, Wargame, Skyrim, Crysis, GTA, Minecraft, World in Conflict, games along those lines. The cards I'm liking are...

Asus 280x Matrix

Asus 280x

Asus GTX 680

EVGA GTX 760 SuperClocked

Anyone have one of these cards? What do you guys think would be best?

lol you will get a recommendation for every one of those cards.

But if you're buying a 144hz monitor, all those cards are pretty weak on their own, if you want to use it to its full potential. Maybe an Asus ROG Mars 760? Then you can add a single 760 down the road for triple-SLi, which should max out your monitor in 99% of games.

Edit: Though you could start with the single 760 and add the mars later when budget allows, however that can be more dangerous as the mars is probably not going to be easy to find eventually (limited run card)

Get this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125475

Its cheaper and has a better cooler, meaning cooler gpu and more overclocking, also better customer support in the unfortunate event that it breaks.

The fan controller is a little bit excessive however if you can find the NZXT for cheap its fine. I don't know if you like noctua's heatsink and fans colour scheme however its all about the performance.

780 easily

Where are you even reading 780? Pretty weird..

ROG Mars 760 is good for gaming although its like...a GK104 core......:P erm I out performs the 780 Ti and 780 however it looks bad even the Ares 2 with the dual 7970ghz edition was worth its money but since its double the price yeahh.... not worth the money.

If you can be patient and wait please buy a 780, the performance is the real deal with this gpu from the 700 series. It has a very valued price to performance even before the price drop of 780 Ti. 770 feel like a 680 to me.

Just look at  the ares 2, when it came out it was great, buuut it has bollocks driver support, it doesnt use the standard amd stuff, it got left alone, same thing will happen with the mars, in theory its a great card but I doubt it will be that great in a few months.

Yeah if his motherboard supports triple-sli then he could just buy one 760 at a time, or if crossfire, one 280x at a time.

Dunno about that, Tiny Tom Logan's benchmarks of the Mars shows it beating the 780Ti when overclocked without any fancy pants drivers. It was an unreleased card at the time, and the newest drivers weren't even out yet. It seems a lot more "koscher" than other "exotic" cards of the past.

The ares 2 would have been at a time when crossfire sucked. Nvidia sli works well so the 760 card should be alright

DO THE MATRIX

bullet-time.jpg

280x Matrix

Let me get this straight, im going to compare this to the gigabyte, the asus matrix cools worse, the temps are higher due to that, the card sags, asus has inferior customer support, 2v 3 fans so asus will be louder, asus have been known to not screw the coolers on correctly leading to stupidly high temps. yes i know the matrix is a better overclocker, but it will be hotter, also the difference between the two in overclocking in very minor so is it worth wasting that money for a card that might get you 1fps tops, you will not see the difference, you will just be left with a sagging card that migth break your pci e slot.

I dont think you can SLI a dual GPU card and a single GPU card... That's a feature that only AMD cards have iirc.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

hopefully the pricing isnt going to cause nuclear instability.

You can*, I saw it explicitly mentioned in one of the reviews, I'll try to find the link. That SLi connector is not intended to bridge two Mars cards.

*Provision for being wrong, just in case lol
