different multiple gpus, one system

So I've been researching this for quite awhile now and still don't have a confirmation. Is it possible to have an AMD workstation gpu and a Nvidia gaming gpu in the same system? I don't need them to run together simultaneously but rather switch between them depending on what I need it for. In my case, it would be switching between gaming and CAD work.

 I have all 3 in my desktop. In my desktop i have intel IGP, nvidia titan xp and 2x HD 7970s in crossfire. I use all 4 of them and my desktop CPU whenever i run openCL. Games havent yet been made to take advantage of multiple GPUs, people tend to have multiple different ones.

 

directx12 can make use of multiple different GPUs but the game must be designed to make use of it in the first place.
