Would unplugging HDD delete files on it?

Hi, so I bought a new ssd to replace my old one. However I only have two sata cables, so I would have to unplugg the HDD and then clone the old SSD to the new one. I have lots of personal data on it, so I dont want to risk losing it. Would unplugging damage it somehow then?

I doubt it would delete data, you're just unplugging sata connections not the plates right? :P

No it would not if the system is powered down correctly (shutting it down) but if it is running it shouldn't delete but no guarantees

Nope, just don't go unplugging it while the pc is still on.

Also, without Hot Plug feature enabled, you will not be able to switch drives without restarting the PC.
