Hi,

This will hopefully be my new network but I am unsure if I need another gateway (router) between the modem and the switch to assign IP addresses. If anyone could advise me, their help would be much appreciated. I would also like to be able to print while connected to any part of the network.

I'm sorry if the diagram is confusing, each green box represents a different room. The solid black lines represent 1000Mbps cables, the red lines represent 100Mbps connections and the dotted lines represent wireless connections.

The 2 TV boxes have to be connected directly to the modem for IP issues but that isn't a problem.

The 2 TP-Link routers will be set up as one network while the Netgear router will be set up as a different network.

Internet: eir Fibre 1000/1000 Mbps.

Modem: eir F2000 wireless modem (made by Huawei)

TV Box: eir TV

Switch: TP-Link 8 Port SG108E Gigabit Smart Switch

Routers: 2 x (TP-LINK Archer C2 AC750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router) and a newish Netgear router that I bought last year, I cant remember what model it is.

Printer: HP envy 5532 wireless printer

Just as a final note, I already had a network similar to this set up but the routers and switches I was using were old and could only handle 100Mbps.

eir is an ISP in Ireland.

Why do you need 3 routers?

If you want to have separate networks just get a switch that does VLANs. Connect the switch to the ISP modem/router.

The network stretches over an area too big to have 1 router provide wifi for the whole area. So my plan was to have the first 2 routers set up as 1 network and the netgear router will be set up as a different wireless network as its for a separate office.

Will a VLAN switch work is this case?

Instead of using wireless, which could lead into interference. Get a powerline adapter. It'll be much better. You can get packs of two cheap. I'm not sure if you have Amazon over there but they sell for £30 for 2

Also, for VLANs if you want separate the networks from each other. Although it might take a long time. You won't need them if you go for powerline adapters

all the routers will be wired. the only thing that will be connected wirelessly are laptops, phones and 1 printer.
