The "upgrade now or wait?" thread has been posted after any hint of a new GPU line has been leaked for as long as i can remember and I've always kept myself from asking the question. But with the GTX 10 series being over a year old and AMD's VEGA line approaching with the frontier edition releasing at the end of June I can't decide if it would be worth it to wait until gaming oriented VEGA SKU's release in a few months or pick up something from the proven 10 series (most likely the GTX 1080) and be happy with it. AMD hasn't messed around in 2017 so far, a refreshing change, which is why i'm at this crossroads. Please share your thoughts on this :).

AMD is wayyyyy to late. Vega will probably be very competitive with Pascal. Except by the time Vega is out, Volta will be right around the corner and Nvidia will be shitting all over AMD. Again. You can't wait an entire year to respond to your competitor's architecture upgrade.

if you can wait id do it but idk if i will be(honestly im probably going to be forced to because money lol). Vega has some parts that look promesing and some parts that done but i would say wait for the end of June and see how the fronteir card preforms, the gameing cards should be around that or better probably so if it preforms like a 1080 we know that the gameing cards will too

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
