Hello everyone, I've got a pair of Nvidia 3D vision 2 glasses. Unfortunately, my monitors do not output a sync pulse, nor does the software allow me to manually adjust the timing to make it work. I'm seeing double images, the pulsing is somewhat working, but the shutter timing is off.

Does anyone know of a way to manually adjust the timing or a way to produce a sync pulse? If its just a TTL 120hz square wave or something, I feel like I might be able to hack my monitor to get said signal.

Any ideas? Anyone here gotten it to work without a 3D vision ready monitor? @0ld_Chicken

Play games in 3D by running each eye at 60hz with a 120hz monitor and shuttering each eye every other frame. Of course, the shuttering has to be timed right, which is the issue. 3d vision ready displays output a sync pulse so the shutters can be timed perfectly, mine don't have this sync pulse. All nvidia would need to do is add a slider that can be used to manually sync it, but I can't find anything of the sort

3D vision has been around for a while now - it came about when everyone and their dog was talking about stereoscopic 3D at home.

i believe you have to have the usb transmitter shown in the picture above to make it work on a non "3D vision ready" display

It is on. The shutters are working but the sync cable on the back of the transmitter can't be plugged into my monitor, since it has no sync out

how does the connector on that cable look like ? is it a 3 pin mini-DIN ?

then it should be a standard vesa stereo connector with a TTL sync signal on pin 3

hmm iirc I plugged the transmitter in to the pc and that's it.  The monitor I was using was 3d ready though too.

Sorry I can't help you more!

Side note: was looking up my old monitor to see if it was 3d ready and its on a pretty good sale

Very interesting. Yeah the cable looks like that with a stereo connector on the other side.

Time to bust out the rigol scope and pull apart the monitor!

i believe you can also buy breakout adaptors and don't need to take anything apart.

i have a pair of VGA breakouts but DVI and other standards should be available too.

on the other hand, if taking stuff apart and modding it is something you are comfy with.. i would like to see some pictures when you are done.

  • 4 weeks later...

Not to hijack or necro or anything but I've gotten a cheap 3D vision kit off eBay recently and I'd be very interested to know if you got anywhere with this.

At some point in the coming weeks I'll get to poking around my monitor with a scope to figure out if I can cobble together a working signal for the VESA sync cable.

I was really frustrated at first when it appeared to just not be working but that all turned out to be driver issues. I can clearly see the shutter glasses phasing in and out at this point.
