Hi @Wuveve I figured you were in canada since your prices matched up. (so am I)

I went a changed a few of the parts since I figured you didnt have a K processor picked and you werent going to overclock the H series 270 was a better pick for you and save a bit of money there. And since you said you are doing Autocad, an nvidia card is your better choice BY FAR. I also picked two decent IPS panels for you. PC part picker says its including taxes. So I figured I'm on point. Also, buy your windows 10 licence off kinguin(https://www.kinguin.net/category/19429/windows-10-professional-oem-key/)its much cheaper.

I also added faster ram because YOU WILL notice a big difference with your AutoCad use. I also opted to not put in an optical drive, because most people dont use those anymore. Up to you add.

That cooler isn't great for the price. The stock one would do fine.

The board only supports 2400MHz ram so getting 3200MHz is pointless.

Why a GTX 1080 with a 60Hz monitor ?

Also Ryzen would be better for the extra cores/threads.

XMP profile would let you do 3200 on the board.

For the cooler I understand, its more of a suggestion anyway. You are the boss in the end.

The GTX 1080 will make your Autocad experience better, the hz of the monitor is unrelated. The GPU handles the 2d and 3d models. If you arent going to do 3D modeling, then fine, but if you are, then the faster the card = better the performance (from hair pulling experience to good). But whatever you do, try to stay with Nvidia for Autocad for compatibility.

If you want to go for Ryzen, then yes. Did you want me to draft another quote with a ryzen build?

No it won't because the chipset doesn't support ram that fast. Only Z270 will allow for faster than 2400MHz.

Those 120mm AIO's are bad value. Something like a Cryorig H7 would do better if he needs an aftermarket cooler.

I am no expert on CAD so I can only comment on the gpu being overkill for the gaming side of things at 1080p.

You are right... I must be on crack today. I havent slept in almost 24hours. I'm sorry for some reason I kept thinking I had quoted Z270, and that made no sense since I did state that it was not for OCing.

And yes, the 1080 would be overkill for 1080p gaming. Its just for 3D CAD it would make huge impact.

Again sorry for the oversight.

No need to apologise.

Just wondering if he would be better with a GTX 1070 and 32GB ram over a 1080 and 16GB. Like I said though I am no expert on Autocad/Revit software :)

Regarding the cpu I have just done a quick search and it seems that the software the op is using might benefit from a faster cpu with better single core performance such as the i7 6700K or i7 7700K so maybe Ryzen isn't the answer after all.

Odd my reply didn't save.

The 1080 is the best bang for the buck for performance with CAD. again, UNLESS he only does 2D, then the 1070 is plenty. Hell even a 1060 might do well.

@Sanctorum We've already established that Intel is the preferred flavor here though for his CAD usage. He just needs to tell us if he's going to be doing 3D or 2D, because that will impact what card he should use. Can definitely save a few bucks if he's a 2D CAD user. But I agree, having a 1440 monitor myself (27" though) Its so much better with CAD and PS usage.

I'd stick with ASUS for the board too, because they offer cross-shipping warranty for faster replacement in case of RMA. May not be needed, but I'm just thinking practicality wise. I'm assuming that being a CAD user he relies on his machine for work or some income. So fast replacement is key.
