Is my psu dead or gpu?

biggiepk

Hi guys.

I have strange problem. When i touch, or move, or knock on my pc, It shuts itself down.

Ckecked everything and found the problem. When the PCIE cables from PSU are plugged to gpu (1x6, 1x8) the PC shuts down when knocked, kicked or even 1cm moved.

When i disconnect that 2 cables from PSU, and GPU remains in pc, i can basicly do whatever i want with my pc..

When on, the pc is working fully, no problem.

specs: Intel xeon 1230, B85 d3ha, 16Gb clockano na 1600mhz, gtx 760, thermaltake 630w, hdd,sdd

That would have been a cheap fix if that PSU was modular. I suggest trying the cheaper option and getting a new PSU once you confirm that you have no other way to identify which is the issue. Good luck!

try changing the PSU cable out it may have a lose wire inside or a pin that is not properly seated

Oh, that's good, get a new cable, preferably longer from your PSU to your GPU.
