ASRock X370 TAICHI RAM

Go to solution Solved by ARikozuM,

Unless you're doing some heavy editing, virtual machines, or programming and testing, you shouldn't need 32GB or 64GB. Games are barely using more than 8GB even today.

Getting a 16GB stick may serve you better unless AMD fixed the rank issues they apparently had.

Im planning on getting the ASRock X370 TAICHI and i wanted to put in a CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 32GB (2 x 16GB)(https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233885&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker, LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=) for now and then double it later on if need to. But when i looked at their site for compatibility (http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370 Taichi/#Memory), it wasn't listed. Can i still put it in or will there be issues since its not listed?

their compatibility list just shows the ram sets that they have tested and that passed.

It is probably fine, but i would recommend buying something from their compatible list just to ensure it works.

It should work, but make sure that your board has an update for the AGESA that should have been sent out by now.

It's completely fine. Might not clock all the way to 3200 (since 16gb sticks aren't B-die), but it'll work.

I'd be damned if one of the most expensive RAM sticks out there doesn't work

so whats the best solution, so i go for the Dominator® Platinum Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) which is listed instead and just stick with that?

32gb should be enough. I just wanted to go for 64gb total since thats the limit for that motherboard and this build, ill be keeping it for a long time and want to get the most out of it.

Go for it if you really want that kit. My kit is vendor approved and will not boot at stock spec even with latest bios lmao..

Maybe another update in the future may fix, maybe. Board has bclk overclocking so worst case is tinkering with that to get above 2993mhz.

I mostly game and do light editing but do plan on getting a VR headset in the future. I looked at their list and i might just go for this one i think https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233736

Go for it, then. Strange [that] an XMP set is on the QVL for Ryzen.
