Combine Dell 980s

Hey LTT community.

 

I have 2 dell 980s i've gotten my hands on and have been using 1 as a plex transcoding / nzb server and the other as a pfsense firewall.

Is there a possible rack mount solution to get both of these machines cleaned up and looking fancy? Possibly a 1-2U chaise i could pop these both in?

 

Appreciate any suggestions...i just have them side by side under a desk at the moment.

You could migrate the guts of each into a Rackmount case - but there aren't going to be any (cheap) ways to get BOTH computers into a single Rackmount case.

 

I personally wouldn't bother though, as the cost of a good rackmount case isn't cheap, and buying a used Server chassis is likely useless, since the ATX motherboard likely won't mount into whatever Server chassis you found.

 

You'd also need to replace the stock cooling, unless you get a roomier rackmount case.
